UK release date and platforms
Mafia 3 came out in the UK on 7 October 2016 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Price and deals
You can even still pick up the game’s Deluxe Edition (which includes a DLC season pass) for £29.99, and the Collector’s Edition (with a host of physical goodies) for £49.99.
Gameplay and features
Set in 1968 New Orleans, you take on the role of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam veteran whose family have always been involved with organised crime. Lincoln wages war on the Italian mob in New Bordeaux. You have to chip away at the influence of your rivals so you can, eventually, go after the top dogs. When you’re not having a good old fashioned shootout, Mafia 3 includes missions such as wiretapping targeted areas (which will allow you to see enemies through walls). You can also upgrade your car and do sneaky things like get your rivals phone lines cut off so they can’t call for reinforcements. The open world is a key feature and a big improvement compared to Mafia 2.
Play the free demo
If you’re curious about Mafia III, but aren’t sure you quite want to commit to paying full price, you can try the game out for free thanks to a demo. Available on every platform, you can download the free demo from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Steam. You’ll need around 25GB of free hard drive space to try the game out, and will get to try out the game’s whole opening act. If you enjoy it, and progress you make will be carried over if you then decide to buy the full game. You can get a taste of what to expect in a trailer released to promote the demo:
